2024 – A year in review for KEMIO Consulting

2024 – A year in review for KEMIO Consulting.

2024 marked our first full year of trading, and we have had a very interesting and exciting journey over the last 12 months. Despite a few challenges along the way, we’ve achieved so much this year as a fledgling business. A big thank you to Jade and all the team at KEMIO for making it such a special year.

We started the year with high energy, but a little mishap while rugby coaching left me in a cast. This meant that our new starter Charlotte had a rather unconventional onboarding, working her first few days from my home office. She quickly learned that adaptability is crucial when working for a new business and didn’t let it stop her from making a great start. Kudos to you, Charlotte! After a couple of weeks, it was business as usual in the office, apart from me hobbling about and not able to carry a tea round!

With our new team members, we began to put our plans into action. Charlotte took over our UK business and Jade built out our US presence, while I worked on expanding our offering in the EU. The new team started making headway and we successfully helped numerous clients across these territories.

Alongside all the hard work, we also took time to support St Basils young persons charity by volunteering in their fabulous pop-up shop.

At the end of April, we celebrated KEMIO’s first birthday with a special meal at the wonderful Grace and Savour restaurant in Solihull. In May, we made another experienced hire, bringing on Kerry to lead our Ops and Finance, and support sales and recruitment projects. Our first 12 months were quite a whirlwind, and even though market conditions were tight, we continued to grow our presence and build new partnerships.

Our success continued over the summer, and we found ourselves in a position to recruit our next team member to focus solely on sales. As a young business, we attracted some excellent candidates who were interested in joining our mission at KEMIO. One of those was Jeni, who we were fortunate enough to relocate back to the UK from Taiwan. She joined the team in October and hit the ground running, bringing fresh ideas and fitting nicely into the group.

In October, we hosted our first networking event at BioTechX in Basel. The event was a real highlight of the year, and it was a unique chance to bring together like-minded professionals while forging new friendships and partnerships.

The market is in an interesting place at the moment. Innovations like AI, machine learning, and other emerging technologies continue to influence the landscape and significantly impact R&D, clinical trials, and personalised medicine. We expect this trend to continue, fuelling a talent war as demand for candidates with these skillsets rises. Despite this, there has been little movement in the market due to the current economic and the geopolitical climate.

As anticipated, our year has been full of ups, downs, and unexpected twists, but I wouldn’t change a single day. The team we are building, the lessons we are learning, and the great people we get to interact with from around the globe all make it worthwhile. We look forward to 2025 and the opportunities it brings to further develop our knowledge, refine our skills, and grow as a team. Here’s to a fruitful 2025!
