    What is longlisting?

    5th May 2023

Longlisting is the first part of the recruitment search process before shortlisting candidates for interview. Longlisting is the process of searching our network and the wider market to identify a pool of qualified candidates who meet the requirements for the position.

Longlisting takes a huge chunk of time as you are 1) planning and researching where to find people 2) typically reviewing 100+ candidate profiles/CV’s 4) making contact with candidates before 4) selecting around 30 to screen and finally ending up with your longlist of 10-15 potential candidates (generally speaking, for a position below management).

It can usually take at least 1-2 weeks to complete this process and get your longlist. Normally we then shortlist 3-5 CV’s which are presented to the company.

We often found that companies were satisfied with a service up until the longlisting point and wanted to take the process on themselves from there. Therefore, they were benefitting from the wider market being searched, their brand being promoted, candidates being screened for eligibility and interest, but with the freedom to choose their own shortlist, take the candidates through interview and make an offer.

Pros and Cons of longlisting Services

KEMIO offer this longlisting service and other value services recommended for start-ups and academic groups to give you more flexibility and to save money on hiring at the crucial early stages of your business. This service can cost up to 60% less than a typical contingent hire cost. We don’t recommend this for management roles and above.
